A Heartfelt Journey: Finding Spiritual Discipline and Peace
As-salamu alaykum everyone. This year, I noticed that Ramadan and Lent began on the same day. I come from a Christian background, but I truly admire the discipline and principles I see in Islam. It often feels like Muslims lead more grounded, principled lives, while in my own faith community, I sometimes see rules being stretched or debated in ways that can dilute core values, like honesty or avoiding harm. Lately, I've been exploring a Lenten study and have adapted it to include five daily prayers, similar to the Islamic practice. Today, I reflected on the Islamic emphasis on restraint in consumption and avoiding excess-it really resonated with me. I feel like I'm deepening my Christian faith by embracing some of the spiritual disciplines rooted in Islam. Each new thing I learn about Islam touches my heart and inspires me to integrate it into my own spiritual routine. To those who have embraced Islam, when did you feel that deep sense of peace in your heart, mind, and soul, knowing Islam was the right path for you? Some friends have told me they pray that Allah eases my search, and I believe hearing your experiences could offer valuable insight. JazakAllah khayr for reading.
