Seeking insight about divine tests

Assalamu alaikum, I was recently asked a thought-provoking question and my response didn’t fully satisfy the person. The question revolves around why some babies or young children pass away before reaching puberty, and therefore don’t undergo the same tests of life that adults face. Why do some experience these trials while others don’t, and how can this be fair if the test isn’t the same for everyone? I shared that we all start as children, so in a way we have similar beginnings; living longer doesn’t necessarily make things unfair because those children also didn’t get to experience life like we do. Plus, it’s just part of Allah’s plan. But I’m wondering if anyone else has a clearer perspective or Islamic understanding on this. Jazakum Allahu khayran for any insights!

My grandma always said they're 'sinless birds of paradise.' Their test ends early; ours continues. Focuses the heart, alhamdulillah.

It's such a deep question. I often think those children are granted Jannah directly, and their brief life is a test for their parents. Allah knows best.

Sis, this made me tear up. The loss is a trial for the family. The child is saved from the fitnah of this world. Their test is different.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. Allah's wisdom is beyond our understanding. Perhaps they are the purest, returning straight to Him.

Fairness is in Allah's ultimate judgment, not in identical experiences. Their journey is complete; ours is still being written.

The scale of justice isn't worldly. Allah is Al-Adl. A child's soul isn't accountable like ours. Their fate is mercy.

So hard to grapple with. But I believe they are given a special status. Our test is to accept Qadr.
