Understanding Islam’s Respect for Women’s Nature

As-salamu alaykum, I want to share some thoughts as someone who isn’t Muslim but grew up around the faith and has some knowledge of the Quran. It’s tiring to see the wrong actions of some men blamed on Islam. True Muslim men who have humbled themselves understand why the Quran has many guidelines about women. It’s because women are deeply valued, and men’s desires must be controlled carefully. Many people misunderstand these rules as if they are meant to oppress women or say they’re less important, but actually, Allah’s instructions for women emphasize their preciousness. It’s like not putting a sign on your window that you have valuable gold or diamonds at home; it’s about protecting what is truly valuable. People with bad intentions might try to take advantage otherwise. Every command Allah gives to women aims to protect them and show their worth, while also recognizing the challenges men face with their desires. For example, women don’t pray or fast during their menstruation, not because they’re "impure," but because they need rest, similar to how the sick or elderly are excused. They make up the fast later when they are able. Many Muslim men don’t explain this properly to the women around them. Instead, some wrongly teach that women are inferior or only valuable when "pure," but that’s not what Allah says at all. Some may have been taught to believe Islam is oppressive toward women, but others know the truth and still spread false ideas. Remember, Allah is always watching. May we all seek to understand and share the true message with kindness and respect.
