Fajar/Fikri Back to China Open Final, Grateful for Team's Support and Trust
Indonesian men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian / Muhammad Shohibul Fikri advanced to the 2026 China Open final after beating home favorites Liang Wei Keng / Wang Chang 21-19, 14-21, 21-19 in the semis. This is their second straight final in two weeks after winning the 2026 Japan Open.
Fajar expressed gratitude for the support they received. "First of all, I'm grateful, thanks for the prayers and support. It wasn't easy facing China's number one pair on their home turf, but that didn't dampen our spirit," he said.
Fikri highlighted the opponent's improved performance compared to their previous meeting. "It was really different from our last match at the Singapore Open. Here, in front of their home crowd they had incredible fighting spirit. Alhamdulillah, at the critical points we managed to come out on top."
The key to success, according to Fajar, is the mutual trust between players and the team. Now they have a chance to defend the China Open title they won last year.
