Curious about the beautiful faith of Islam

Assalamu alaikum everyone. I'm currently learning about different religions in my spare time. I really want to read the Quran but I'm hoping to learn some Arabic first, insha'Allah. Most of my friends and people around me aren't religious, so I haven't had many chances to talk with Muslims and understand the perspective of those who practice this faith. I was just wondering, what do you think is the most important value or principle in Islam? And how would you describe your general vision of this way of life? Jazakallahu khairan!
