Starting My Journey to Islam

Assalamu alaikum! I'm a 25-year-old woman just beginning to learn about and practice Islam. I grew up in an atheist home and never had faith, but lately, I've been deeply inspired by the strength and perseverance of the Palestinian and Iranian people. This led me to explore Islam, and I even took part in Eid recently. Being Latin American, I was surrounded by a lot of anti-Islam propaganda and prejudice that's common in the West, especially after 9/11. Now, I’m unlearning those biases, and the little I’ve learned so far has humbled me-I realize I have a lot of catching up to do. Anyway, I’m hoping to get some advice on how to become more involved and spend my time learning properly. I’m reading the Qur’an, but I feel like I need to study more before I’m ready to take my shahada. As someone new to this, I just want to learn and be as respectful as possible.
