Looking for Welcoming Mosques in the Bay Area
As-salamu alaykum everyone, I'll be moving back to the Bay Area soon, insha'Allah, and I'm hoping to find a mosque to attend regularly. I wanted to share a bit about my experience so you understand what I'm looking for. I became Muslim last year, alhamdulillah, and my first time going to a mosque (when I was traveling) wasn't as welcoming as I'd hoped. I know that experience doesn't represent all mosques, but I've heard similar stories from other reverts here in America. Also, as a Black sister, I've unfortunately encountered some racial issues within parts of our community, which makes me extra careful about finding the right place. Being a woman adds another layer too - sometimes the women's sections in mosques don't get as much attention or resources, especially when it comes to learning opportunities. I'm specifically hoping to find a mosque that: - Offers good support and resources for revert sisters - Has Arabic classes available - Has a diverse and welcoming community - Is genuinely focused on deen rather than just money or appearances If anyone has recommendations, I'd be so grateful. May Allah reward you for your help and guide us all to what's best. Jazakum Allahu khayran!
