For My Fellow Reverts & Those Finding Their Way
As someone who came to Islam, this reminder really helps me, and I hope it helps you too, whether you're firm in faith or having a hard time. Hadith on Keeping Things Short and Sweet: * **Leading Prayer**: The Prophet ﷺ said: *"When you're leading the prayer, keep it short, because among the people are the sick, the elderly, and those who are weak."* (Sunan Nasai). It's all about being considerate of others. * **The Friday Khutbah**: He ﷺ also said: *"A long prayer and a short sermon are signs of a person's understanding of the religion."* (Sahih Muslim). Wisdom means keeping the talk to the point. * **Making Dua**: The Dua Al-Qunut the Prophet ﷺ taught is nice and brief. Scholars say making it super long is not liked, as it can be tough on the people praying with you. The way is to be balanced. * **Life is Short**: The Prophet ﷺ compared this life to *"a traveler resting in the shade of a tree for a bit, then moving on."* (Ahmad). It’s a deep way to remember that our time here is limited, so we should focus on what’s important. * **In General**: In everything-how we talk, how we worship, what we do-keeping things concise but meaningful is the best way, especially when other Muslims are involved.
