Dozens of SDN Kauman 1 Malang City Students Poisoned After Eating MBG

Dozens of students at SDN Kauman 1 in Malang City are suspected of food poisoning after consuming meals from the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. Symptoms started appearing after a chicken dish on Monday (20/7), and continued with egg and fish dishes the following day. A parent, Roki, reported that his child complained about an unusual taste and smell in the egg dish, and many students didn’t finish the fish because they thought it was too fishy. On Wednesday night, Roki’s child had stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting, followed by fever and weakness the next day. The doctor diagnosed it as stomach flu, and around 12 students in the class had similar symptoms, including some 4th graders. The Head of the Malang City Food Security Agency, Slamet Husnan Hariadi, confirmed the suspected poisoning reports and said the school had requested lab tests on the MBG food.
