Bromo Forest Fire, Tourism and Jazz Gunung Still Running Normally
A forest fire hit the Gunung Ringgit Block, Sapikerep Village, Sukapura, Probolinggo, since Saturday (7/25) early morning. The fire was detected at 2 AM local time in the Perhutani RPH Sukapura forest, burning dry grass and shrubs due to the dry season.
The steep and cliffy terrain made direct firefighting difficult. Officers could only monitor and hope the fire would stop at a natural barrier near residents' land. BPBD and Perhutani are continuously monitoring so it doesn’t spread to settlements or farmland.
Even though the fire is still ongoing, tourism activities at Mount Bromo via Probolinggo remain normal, including the Jazz Gunung Bromo event which is unaffected. The cause and affected area are still under investigation. Locals are urged to stay away from the area because it's dangerous.
