BRIN and BMKG Predict Idul Adha 1447 H to Fall Simultaneously on May 27, 2026
The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) predicts that Hari Raya Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah in Indonesia will be celebrated simultaneously on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. BRIN's Astronomy and Astrophysics Researcher, Thomas Djamaluddin, stated that the government, Muhammadiyah, and Saudi Arabian authorities are projected to set 1 Zulhijah on the same day, which is May 18, 2026. 'God willing, Idul Adha 1447 H will be uniform,' he emphasized.
This uniformity is based on astronomical calculations. During the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Isbat Session on May 17, 2026, the position of the crescent moon is estimated to have met all the criteria for determining the start of the month. BMKG data shows the height of the crescent moon in Indonesia ranges between 3.29 degrees to 6.95 degrees, with an elongation angle of 8.91–10.62 degrees, exceeding the minimum limit of the MABIMS criteria.
Muhammadiyah has already determined that 10 Zulhijah 1447 H falls on May 27, 2026 using the hisab method. Although calculations from various parties show agreement, official certainty still awaits the results of the government's Isbat Session on May 17, 2026.
