Alleged Hijab Ban at Unhan Considered a Human Rights Violation, Ahmad Khozinudin Questions Natalius Pigai's Stance
Former Roy Suryo lawyer, Ahmad Khozinudin, criticized the alleged policy at the Defense University (Unhan) that requires female cadet candidates to remove their hijab during training. He reckons this rule violates religious freedom and the constitution, especially Article 29 of the 1945 Constitution.
This criticism blew up after the viral case of Asma Wafa Andina, a prospective Military Medicine student at Unhan, who quit because she was given the choice of taking off her hijab and cutting her hair or withdrawing. Ahmad called this coercion a clampdown on religious freedom.
Ahmad also questioned Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai’s stance, feeling he hasn’t spoken up about the alleged violation of worship freedom rights at Unhan.
