Your OCD is not a sign of weak Iman. Let me explain why.
Assalamu alaikum everyone, I spent years feeling ashamed of my OCD because I thought it meant my faith was lacking. I believed that if my Iman was stronger, I wouldn't be going through this. That sisters who prayed without repeating wudu ten times were closer to Allah than me. That thinking kept me trapped for a long time. But here's what I've learned: OCD attacks what's most important to you. For a practicing Muslimah, that's your salah, your wudu, your Iman, your connection with Allah. OCD didn't target your Deen because your faith is weak. It targeted it because your faith means everything to you. That's the cruel truth about how OCD works. You're not failing as a Muslim. You're facing a neurological condition that has grabbed onto your most sacred space. Those are two completely different things. Alhamdulillah, there's a way forward that respects your Deen and treats the condition for what it really is. May Allah give us clarity about what comes from Him and what comes from the illness. Ameen. 💬 Did you ever feel like your OCD reflected your Iman? How are you dealing with it?
