Police Arrest Two People Related to Ad Dhuha Memorization Challenge with Alcohol Prize

BANDA ACEH – Police arrested two people related to the case of a Quran memorization challenge with an alcoholic drink (alcohol) prize at The Sounds Project music festival, Ancol, North Jakarta, Sunday (9/8/2026). The two are R (female), the challenge creator, and E (male), the emcee (MC). Currently both are detained at North Jakarta Metro Police. The incident began when E, MC at the Newport alcohol brand booth, allowed a visitor to take over the microphone and offer a contest to recite one of the Quran's chapters in exchange for alcohol. The video went viral on social media and drew public criticism. E later apologized and admitted negligence, and stated the brand was not involved. Acting North Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Oki Waskito, said investigators are still looking into the case and did not rule out the possibility of other parties being involved. "It's possible it could spread to other parties.
