Worried About My Burial as a Revert in a Non-Muslim Country
As-salamu alaykum! I know everything is in Allah’s hands, but I can’t help feeling a bit anxious about my burial. I’m a revert living in a small European country where most people aren’t Muslim, and sadly, many here are hostile toward Islam. My husband is a born Muslim from another country, and alhamdulillah I have him. We plan to stay here, inshallah, for the foreseeable future. But we never know what might happen-who will die first, how life will turn out. I’ve learned that Muslims are buried in a specific way: without a coffin, facing the qiblah, with special prayers. What if I’m not buried like that? What if none of those rituals are done? I’m not even sure if the locals know about Islamic burial practices, and there are hardly any Muslims around, no mosques or imams that I know of. Plus, I worry if Islamic burial is even allowed here. Everyone seems worried about death itself, but honestly, I’m more worried about how I’ll be buried. Jazakum Allahu khayran.
