Seeking Advice on Where to Move (Single Muslim Sister)
As-salaamu alaykum. I’m in a tough spot and need to find somewhere to go within the next month or so. I’ll be losing my job and if I can’t cover rent I’ll end up homeless. I have some savings, but not enough to stretch long in the US. I’ve lived overseas before and I’m thinking of going somewhere my money will go further. This is a last resort after trying to find steady work for over two years. My current job barely pays and I’m doing the work of three people. When that ends I’m not sure what to do - the job market and cost of living right now are the worst I’ve seen. I was applying to around 50 jobs a week and only got a few part-time, very low-pay replies that still wouldn’t cover housing. I’ve run out of options here and need to choose a destination soon. I’m hoping to find work teaching English abroad, doing administrative work, or anything stable to keep me afloat. I’d prefer places that are affordable and relatively safe and comfortable for a single Muslim woman - easy access to halal food, modest living options, and a community or mosque would be ideal. If anyone has practical suggestions on countries or cities where a modest budget stretches, where English teaching or admin jobs are realistic for newcomers, or tips for finding housing and work quickly as a single Muslim sister, I’d really appreciate it.
