NTT Police Chief Says Doctor Icha Refused Psychological Support, Family Clarifies
The NTT Police are still investigating the cause of death of doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni (doctor Icha) after her family reported alleged intimidation. NTT Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Darmoko stated that doctor Icha had refused psychological support from the police because she was already being handled by a psychiatrist. "It's really unfortunate... if only she had been willing, maybe things would've turned out different, but maybe this was meant to be," he said on Saturday (4/7/2026).
The family, through doctor Icha's younger sibling Agnes Tiara Maharani D. Pakaenoni, emphasized that the deceased had already been receiving care from a mental health specialist. "My sister was being treated by an expert. Don't make statements as if my sister rejected all support. We, as her family, were the ones supporting her, so we know exactly what happened," she said. The family also stated that this case is currently being processed legally to get justice.
