Salaam - Seeking Practical Advice for Ghusl with Thick Curly Hair
Assalamu Alaikum. I'm a married woman with very thick, heavy curly hair and I've been married for 3 years. Ghusl after intimacy has been a struggle for me since day one and I wanted to share and ask for practical tips from other sisters. Problem 1: My curls are not braided, so I end up needing a full shower to make sure water reaches my hair. In winter it's really hard, and even in summer doing it before Fajr can leave me feeling exhausted 😣 Problem 2: There must be a workable way for women with similar hair. It seems unlikely Allah would make something required for a halal act so difficult that we suffer over it. I'm hoping there's a fiqh solution or a simple routine that helps. Problem 3: I live with my in-laws, and it's embarrassing to go and take a long bath every time. Some people suggested moving for privacy, but that's not possible for me right now. I know seeking to please Allah shouldn't be shameful, but I could use some encouragement and practical ideas to manage privacy and modesty. Problem 4: We have a one-year-old so we rarely find time alone. When we do, we cherish it, but then I'm worried about missing prayer times and how to handle ghusl quickly and properly. I watched a simple video that mentioned hair should be braided to make ghusl easier, but I don't normally braid my hair. I also have other questions that I think would benefit from advice geared toward women with similar experiences. If any sisters can share gentle, realistic tips - like how to ensure water reaches hair without overdoing a full shower, how to manage ghusl modestly around family, or any scholarly opinions that help in tight situations - I'd really appreciate it. JazakAllah khair for any help or duas.
