Quick Tip - Keep Two Phones (Not What You Think) - A Short Tale
Assalamu alaikum - okay, short and practical tip from someone with iPhones, but same idea works on Android too. Have your regular everyday phone for personal use. Then keep a second phone without a SIM card, set it up to the home screen, and keep it by your bed or take it into the bathroom. You don’t need to install anything beyond the default apps. Why? It could save your life. In many countries phones are required to be able to call emergency services even without a SIM card or Wi‑Fi, so that spare device can dial for help if you can’t reach your main phone. People usually think two phones are just for separating work and personal stuff, but an even simpler reason is safety - like if you faint in the bathroom at night. I’ve fainted a few times (vasovagal syncope) - once when I had COVID, and a couple of random pass-outs. I even got stuck wedged between the wall and the toilet in a very tight spot. When I needed help I could still call emergency services, and I was also able to call my mom - she was just a few doors away since I live with my parents for now. She found me feverish and dehydrated, and my parents helped get me safely to bed. So be careful - get an extra phone (used on marketplaces can be cheap), keep it by your bed or in the bathroom area. My daily phone is an iPhone 12, and my emergency standby is an iPhone SE 2020 I bought for about $40 USD - scratched but works fine for emergencies. May Allah keep everyone safe.
