Christian Man Wins Quran Competition, Gives Umrah Prize to Muslim Neighbor
BANDA ACEH – A Christian guy in Egypt named Mina won a Quran competition and gave the umrah prize to his Muslim neighbor, Um Ali, also known as Mona. He gave her the prize because he knew Um Ali had been longing for a trip to the Holy Land of Mecca for ages.
Mina took part in a Quran knowledge quiz that was livestreamed on social media by preacher Dr. Ayman Abu Omar. By answering 50 to 60 questions correctly online, he managed to snag the umrah prize and stuck to his original plan to hand it over to Um Ali.
Um Ali expressed how grateful she was for the opportunity, saying it was a long-time prayer of hers to perform umrah while she could still travel. Meanwhile, Mina emphasized that his good relationship with Um Ali and her family has lasted over 20 years, and he sees Um Ali like an older sister.
This story went viral on Egyptian social media and got a lot of praise as a great example of harmonious bonds between neighbors of different faiths.
