Asking About Spelling: Ismaeel vs. Other Forms

As-salamu alaykum everyone, hope you're all well. Alhamdulillah, my husband and I have been blessed with a baby boy, may Allah protect him. With our kids, we've always tried to choose spellings that make the pronunciation clear from the start, since we've had our own names mispronounced so often. We're thinking of the name Ismaeel (for Prophet Ismail, peace be upon him), but I've heard that 'Ishmael' is a different spelling. Would it be okay to use a spelling like 'Ishmael,' or does the Arabic spelling matter more Islamically? Just want to make sure we get this right. Jazakum Allahu khayran for any guidance.
