Asia-Pacific Palestinian Solidarity Headquarters Established in Indonesia
The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has announced the formation of a major headquarters for the Palestinian solidarity movement in the Asia-Pacific region in Indonesia. This body, named the Asia-Pacific Coalition for Al-Quds and Palestine (APCAP), will be based in Jakarta, as a result of agreements from the Asia-Pacific conference participants, as conveyed by MUI's Chairman for Foreign Relations, Prof. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim.
The organizational structure of APCAP has been set up, with an Advisory Board that will include figures such as Jusuf Kalla and Din Syamsuddin. For the time being, operational activities will be centered at the MUI building in Matraman, while awaiting the completion of the licensing process.
The official launch of APCAP is planned for July, coinciding with the Indonesian Muslim Congress, as a moment to consolidate the Palestinian solidarity movement in the Asia-Pacific region. APCAP is intended to serve as a coordination platform for existing cross-country civil society movements that have so far not been integrated.
