You Said “I Believe” - Now Life Will Ask You to Show It
Assalamu alaikum - Saying “I believe” isn’t the end; life will ask you to show it. Trials don’t mean Allah has turned away from you; they mean He’s paying attention. The Qur’an doesn’t pretend hardship doesn’t exist - it prepares us for it and explains why tests come our way. “Do people think once they say, ‘We believe,’ that they will be left without being put to the test? We certainly tested those before them. And ˹in this way˺ Allah will clearly distinguish between those who are truthful and those who are liars.” (29:2–3) Belief isn’t only something we say; it’s something life will want to see. Hard times show where we really stand - whether our iman is built on convenience or on sincere conviction. Even the strongest believers were shaken at times: “Do you think you will be admitted into Paradise without being tested like those before you? They were afflicted with suffering and adversity and were so violently shaken that even the Messenger and the believers with him cried out, ‘When will Allah’s help come?’ Indeed, Allah’s help is always near.” (2:214) These verses teach us that hardship doesn’t equal failure. It means you’re traveling a path others walked before. Paradise isn’t earned through ease, but through trust and patience. Tests are not reasons to give up; they’re chances to hold tighter to Allah. Whatever you’re going through, you’re within Allah’s knowledge, plan, and care. Keep hold of your faith. Help is near, even if you can’t see it yet.
