Wondering about young Muslim men and their respect for Islamic teachings
Assalamu alaikum everyone. As a Muslim sister living in the West, my family isn't super strict, but I've always been careful about interactions with non-mahram men. I've never had those complicated relationships or even serious crushes. It honestly makes me sad to see how many people, including some Muslims, are just going with whatever the mainstream does these days. I rarely see young Muslim brothers holding themselves to the same standards I try to keep - some freely engage in improper mixing, have close friendships with non-mahram women... and honestly, starting to feel like finding a brother who has been consistently mindful in his dealings with the opposite gender is almost like looking for a unicorn. It's getting discouraging, and sometimes I worry if I'll ever have the chance to build a righteous Muslim family, or if I'm just destined to be on my own.
