Can my vegetarian treats be halal too?

Assalamu alaikum, I was talking sweets with a friend of mine, and he said he'd be happy to try all the halal desserts from my local bakery. It got me thinking. I'm vegetarian, so I'm careful about things like gelatin from animals and food coloring that might be made from insects. I know halal rules also don't allow alcohol, but what else might I be missing? The last thing I'd want is to accidentally offer something not allowed. So, if a treat is good for my vegetarian diet, does it automatically work for halal too?
