Why Was the Prophet Rarely Sick? Here's the Explanation and Evidence
Prophet Muhammad SAW was known for his incredible stamina and physical strength. According to Islamic history, he rarely got sick-only recorded as seriously ill three times: when he received the first revelation, when he was poisoned, and toward the end of his life. The secret behind this lies in the healthy lifestyle he practiced.
Some of the Prophet's habits that supported his health include: watching his diet by eating halal and wholesome (thayyiban) food without overindulging (QS. Al-A’raf: 31), sleeping early and waking before dawn for prayer, maintaining cleanliness with regular wudu and siwak, staying active, fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, taking short midday naps (qailulah), keeping family ties, and only consuming what's halal.
This lifestyle wasn't just part of the sunnah, but also backed by the Qur’an and hadith. For instance, the command to stay clean is in QS. Al-Baqarah: 222, and the recommendations for fasting and qailulah are supported by authentic hadith. These practices show Islam's holistic approach to maintaining both physical and spiritual health.
