When Allah (SWT) Gives a Path That Feels Too Heavy
Assalamu alaikum - sometimes I wonder what to do when the path Allah (SWT) has decreed feels heavier than I can carry. What if what’s written for me doesn’t bring ease but instead brings deep loneliness and hardship? How do we accept it and keep going when we feel so alone? I try to remind myself of a few things: that Allah knows what we don’t, that tests can be a way to draw closer to Him, and that patience (sabr) has reward. Still, it’s hard. Practical things that help me are making dua, keeping up with prayer, reading Quran even in small amounts, and reaching out to family or a trusted brother/sister to talk - sometimes just sharing how you feel lightens the load. Also, remembering that this life is temporary and that reward for enduring with faith is promised gives some comfort. If you’re struggling, don’t hesitate to seek support from your community or an imam, and consider professional help if the loneliness becomes overwhelming. Anyone else feel like this sometimes? How do you cope when the path feels beyond you?
