Warning: Deceptive Traps Targeting Muslim Women - Please Be Careful, Sisters and Brothers

As-salamu alaykum. This is personal to me - a close relative fell victim to this and her life has been devastated. I’m sharing this because it’s a very important issue and I don’t want more families to suffer. There are non-Muslim men deliberately targeting Muslim women by pretending to be serious and charming. In some places this is organized by groups with anti-Muslim beliefs. They build trust, lure a woman into a relationship, then force or trick her into sinful sexual acts. In many cases they secretly record these encounters and then use the footage to blackmail her, threatening to show it to her family or put it online. Often the damage is already done before anyone can help. These people boast to friends about what they’ve done, treating Muslim women like trophies and saying hateful things about our faith and community. Some of their aims are clearly malicious - to humiliate us and damage our families. This isn’t only happening in one country; it’s been reported in various places, including Western countries. Technology and image editing make it easier for them to exploit and degrade Muslim women, and AI makes it even worse. My relative was abused and isolated from her family; the man even pushed her away from Islam. I can’t go into all the details, but the harm has been catastrophic for her and our family. Brothers, you have a responsibility to protect your sisters, wives, and daughters. Allah will ask us about how we cared for and safeguarded our families. Sisters, be careful with people who seem overly sweet or insistent - some of them are hiding terrible intentions. I don’t want to generalize about all non-Muslims, but we must be realistic and watchful. Look out for one another. Share this warning with Muslim women you care about. If sisters with larger platforms can raise awareness, please do - we need as many people informed as possible. Don’t dismiss this as just fake or only online; it is real and I’ve seen it happen. May Allah protect our families and guide us to safeguard our sisters from harm. Please be cautious and support one another.
