Thinking of Converting but Feeling Overwhelmed
Salam everyone. I've been married to my husband for six months now, and I love him deeply. He's Muslim, and I come from a Catholic background, though I haven't really practiced since I was younger. He's gently mentioned that he'd be happy if I embraced Islam someday, but honestly, even before that, I was already curious and open to the idea. I didn't want him to be my direct teacher, not because I don't value his support, but because if I take this step, I want it to be from my heart, truly for the sake of Allah, not just out of love for him-even though he's the one who sparked my interest. I've been reading the Quran, learning how to pray, and I genuinely love the teachings I'm discovering, but I can't shake this feeling that I'm messing up or this fear about how my family will react. I don't know any other Muslims personally, and I'd really like to visit the mosque and pray there, but I get so nervous. What if I do something wrong? Can I just walk into a local mosque and pray? Should I approach someone for help and guidance? Or should I keep practicing at home until I'm ready to take my shahada? Any advice or reassurance would mean a lot.
