Thinking about a Sadaqah Water Well After My Divorce

Salaam everyone. I recently got a divorce, and I know I wasn't perfect in our marriage. I still have a lot of care in my heart for my ex-husband, and sometimes I make dua that Allah SWT guides us both. I'm trying to put my trust in Him and focus on doing some good deeds. I was thinking of giving sadaqah jariyah by donating a water well in my ex-husband's name. My main intention isn't about our past relationship, but to do something sincerely for the sake of Allah, hoping for His acceptance. What do you think about this idea Islamically? Has anyone here done a charitable act like this after a separation?
