A heartfelt reminder from personal struggle: choose wisely and parent responsibly.

Assalamu alaikum. Just like the heading says, I'm sharing from my own life. After keeping it hidden for so long, I've finally found the strength to speak up. When I was just eight, an older teenage relative sexually harmed me. A lot of this happened because inappropriate content like porn is reaching young children and teens. I faced both sexual and physical abuse. I won’t go into the painful details. And when I reached out to some family members back then, they didn’t offer the support I needed. Alhamdulillah, after a long and difficult journey, I am in a much better place now. But these wounds and traumas stay with you for life. Please, never treat adult content as normal. Believe me, it’s among the most destructive evils and spreads some of the worst corruption in society. And please, understand your duties as parents. We all must strive to do better for our children.
