Starting to Learn About Islam from Square One - Seeking Meaning and Confidence
As-salamu alaykum. I’m already Muslim, but I want to study Islam like a revert - to find a deeper, personal reason for my faith beyond “I was born into it.” When I ask myself why I’m Muslim, my usual answer is just family background, and I’d like to discover a firmer, more heartfelt conviction. So, where should I begin? What books should I read and which scholars or teachers should I listen to for clear, beginner-friendly guidance? I’m looking for resources that explain core beliefs, practices, and the wisdom behind them in a simple, accessible way. Also, to be honest, part of what’s shaken my faith is seeing a lot of misogyny in some Muslim online spaces. I’d be really grateful for female scholars, speakers, or writers whose work highlights Islam’s respect for women and helps me feel more positive and confident about how the religion treats women. Any names, lectures, books, or short articles that helped you would mean a lot. JazakAllahu khayran 🙏🏻
