Sisters, watch out - my Muzz experience
As-salamu alaykum sisters, I want to share something that happened to me so others can be careful. This is just my personal experience and I don’t have proof for everything, but some things didn’t sit right with me. I met a man online who seemed religious, respectful, and serious about marriage. He even spoke with my family and said we’d make things halal after Ramadan. He was generous and consistent for almost a year - picked me up from the airport (a four-hour drive), paid for dinners, looked after me when I was unwell, and we spoke every day. Later I discovered he lied about his age (he said 35 but is actually 40) - I should have taken that as a red flag. After Ramadan, when it was time to meet my family properly, he suddenly ghosted me without any explanation. A while after that I saw he was still on the same site and still giving false information. When I asked him about it he avoided responsibility, saying he was stressed and ‘wasn’t ready.’ I don’t know his reasons, and maybe I’m mistaken, but some things felt off. For example, he mentioned an 18-year-old nephew and talked to a lawyer about the nephew while we were together - seemed odd to me that an uncle would be the point person instead of the parents. I could be wrong, but I wanted to share this so other sisters don’t get hurt. Trust your instincts, set boundaries, and involve families early on when possible. May Allah protect all of us and guide us to what’s best.
