Simple Tip: Keep a Small Note in Your Pocket to Remember Little Tasks - As-Salaam-Alaikum
As-salaam-alaikum - I used to try every fancy task app and none of them stuck for me. I’d set a reminder, forget to check it, then feel silly when I realized I still hadn’t done the thing. My phone has like five different productivity apps and I barely use any of them. One day at work I was panicking a bit trying to remember the small things before I left, and a coworker gave me a cheap yellow sticky note. She told me to write the three things I didn’t want to forget and keep the note in my pocket. That’s all. For some reason this low-tech trick clicked right away. I think it works because you feel the note in your pocket when you move and your brain gets that gentle nudge: hey, there’s still stuff to do. I also made a rule that the note can only hold three tasks so I don’t overload it. Since then I’ve been much better at the tiny tasks that used to slip through the cracks - buying batteries, calling my mum, sending an important document, checking the mailbox, those small annoying chores. The best part is crumpling the note at the end of the day when everything is done. It feels more real than tapping a checkbox on a screen and gives a little satisfaction. If digital tools don’t work for you, don’t be hard on yourself. Sometimes the simplest analogue trick is the one that actually helps - may Allah make our days productive and easy.
