Seeking advice on women’s universities in Saudi Arabia and nearby Muslim countries - Salam
Assalamu alaikum, everyone! I’m a female student about to finish school and I’m looking for guidance on higher education options. I’ll need to apply to university soon, but I’m not sure where to go. I don’t see a future for myself in my current post-Soviet country, so I’m seriously thinking about studying abroad - ideally in Saudi Arabia or other nearby Muslim countries. My questions come from two problems: there’s very little up-to-date info about universities in Saudi Arabia online, and info about women’s universities or women’s programs is even harder to find, especially for international students. I’d really appreciate any info or personal experience about: - Women’s universities or women-only programs in Saudi Arabia (or other Muslim countries) - Whether international female students are accepted and how common that is - Is Arabic required, or do programs teach Arabic from the beginning? (I’d prefer programs taught in English, but I’m willing to learn Arabic from zero if needed) - What majors or fields of study are available for women - Admission requirements, scholarships, and living conditions (housing, campus life, safety, gender-segregation norms, etc.) - Cultural or academic pitfalls I should be aware of as a Muslim woman studying abroad Right now I’m just exploring options and don’t have a particular university in mind, so general advice and real experiences would be really helpful. Jazakum Allah khair for any help or personal stories you can share!
