Rights of an orphan in Islam and inheritance concerns
Assalamu alaikum everyone. My father passed away two years ago, and my mother left us earlier due to COVID. After my dad’s janazah, my uncle said we aren’t considered orphans because we’re in our 20s, so we have no right to our grandfather’s property. I’m not very knowledgeable about how inheritance is divided. Recently, my uncles gave us a share, but it was barely anything. They kept telling us we could trust them and they’d give a fair amount. My siblings feel it wasn’t just, but I’m not sure if we’re being ungrateful since we don’t have a steady income. Does anyone know or have an opinion on this? Are we still considered orphans?
