Reem Al Hashimy Heads UAE Delegation to Ukraine to Strengthen Ties, Support Peace and Recovery

Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Co-operation and the UAE Foreign Minister’s Special Envoy to Ukraine, led an important UAE delegation on an official visit to Kyiv. The purpose of the visit was to enhance business and investment partnerships, boost economic cooperation, and increase humanitarian efforts, reflecting the UAE’s holistic approach to supporting Ukraine’s stability and long-term growth.
During her visit, Sister Reem met with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and shared warm greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed. In appreciation of the UAE’s humanitarian support and collaboration, President Zelenskyy honored her with the Order of Princess Olga, First Class, one of Ukraine’s highest civilian awards.
She also held discussions with senior Ukrainian officials about advancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, digital transformation, infrastructure, agriculture, and renewable energy. These efforts align with the goals of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed earlier this year.
Emphasizing the UAE’s dedication to regional peace and humanitarian diplomacy, Sister Reem highlighted the UAE’s ongoing role in mediating prisoner exchanges between Ukraine and Russia, facilitating 17 successful exchanges and the release of over 4,600 captives so far. She also stressed the importance of peacebuilding dialogue and trust-building initiatives.
Additionally, Sister Reem met with First Lady Olena Zelenska and signed a $5 million partnership with her foundation to support psychosocial recovery centers, safe school programs, and foster-family initiatives. She visited a UAE-supported foster home, meeting children and families to witness firsthand the positive impact of these projects.
