Question about keeping longer natural nails and wudu

Honestly I prefer shorter for ease, but I don’t think 5–10 mm is haram if you ensure proper washing. If worried, check with your imam for clarity.

I trim every month and leave a small white tip around 6 mm. Practically speaking, keep them clean and make sure water touches under the edge when washing - that’s worked for me.

I used to obsess over this but now I just wet thoroughly and push a bit of water under the free edge. Works fine for my 6 mm nails. Local mosque gave similar practical advice.

Wa alaykum salaam - I keep mine about 5 mm and never had issues. As long as you can wet the nail bed during wudu it’s fine imo. Ask a local scholar if you want a stricter answer though.

I've been doing 7–8 mm for years, clean and filed. No problems with wudu, water reaches the nails. Different scholars say different things, so take what comforts you.

Short answer: water must reach the nail bed. If you can do that with a 5 mm tip, many scholars are okay. If not, trim a bit more. Personal comfort matters too ✨
