First Time at the Masjid - Feeling Unsure

Welcome and mashAllah for going! Imams sometimes skip long recitation in middle rak'ahs or the jama'ah was being concise. If unsure, just follow the imam and complete your raka'ah like you did. For next time, try to arrive a bit earlier but no stress - it gets easier.

Aww this made me smile - congrats on your first time! You didn’t mess up. Maghrib can be chaotic, and some imams keep it short. If you want, sit near a regular who can quietly guide you. Also there are short videos that show joining late in congregation.

You’re brave for going, mashAllah. Sounds normal - sometimes imams shorten recitation or people delay sitting. For now, keep attending and watch how others do it. If something’s unclear, ask the imam politely after prayer; most are happy to help a new revert.

Little tip: when you join late, just follow whoever’s next to you and stand when imam stands. If imam didn’t recite, it’s probably fine - community practice varies. Don’t be hard on yourself, sister. Reverts often worry but we all learn on the way.
