Prayers Needed - Thousands of Children in al-Fashir Face Starvation
As-salamu alaykum. I came across a heartbreaking update about al-Fashir in Darfur and wanted to share so we can remember them in our duas. According to UN agencies, thousands of children are at immediate risk of death as malnutrition soars in the besieged city. Over 250,000 civilians - roughly half of them children - have been cut off from food and medical care during more than a year of siege. Health services have collapsed, and many children with severe acute malnutrition no longer have access to treatment. Al-Fashir remains one of the last areas held by the army in western Sudan amid fighting with the Rapid Support Forces since April 2023, and aid teams report widespread destruction across Darfur and other regions. Malnutrition is rising across the whole country, and parts of Sudan were already confirmed to be facing famine last year. People returning to the capital after the army regained control found neighborhoods ruined and basic services barely working. Overall, more than 30 million people, including nearly 15 million children, urgently need assistance. Only about a quarter of the $4.2 billion requested for humanitarian relief has been funded so far. Please keep the families of Sudan in your prayers and, if able, consider supporting reputable Islamic or relief charities providing food and medical aid.
