NU Congress Coincides with Cold Air Phenomenon, Jombang Regional Hospital Readies Health Services
The cold air phenomenon (bediding) in East Java is expected to last until the end of August 2026, coinciding with the 35th NU Congress at Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, on August 27–31. Dr. Puji Umbaran, Director of Jombang Regional Hospital, urges the public and congress participants to keep their bodies in good shape so they don't easily fall ill from the cold weather. He also reminds the committee to pay attention to accommodation comfort, including adjusting the use of air conditioning.
According to Dr. Puji, bediding normally occurs during the dry season due to the Australian monsoon winds, but extreme temperature changes can lower the body's immune system and increase the risk of respiratory problems. People are advised to eat nutritious food, drink more water, get enough rest, and wear masks when outdoors to reduce dust exposure.
Jombang Regional Hospital has noted an increase in ARI patients along with the cold weather. Facing the NU Congress, Jombang Regional Hospital ensures medical personnel and facilities are ready, with health posts stationed at several points and connected to hospitals for further care. Participants are reminded to make sure their BPJS Health is active, but for those who don't have it, handling will be coordinated with the local government.
