Live in the Now, Trust in Allah!
Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) beautifully said: We all drift between three moments-what’s gone, what’s now, and what’s yet to come. For the past? Let it go. The worries, the pain-they’re behind you. If hardship hit, say, “O Allah, reward me for this trial and bless me with something better,” then move forward. The future? Only Allah knows it. Put your trust in Him, and when things happen, seek solutions. And for what the Shari‘ah tells us to prepare for, be ready. But the present-this is your moment. Avoid what brings anxiety and sadness. Keep your heart light, turn to Allah in worship, and handle your worldly and religious duties. Do this, and you’ll find relief. If you drown in past regrets or stress over tomorrow without a Shari‘ah reason, you’ll only exhaust yourself and miss out on so much good. So, here’s the takeaway: Hearts aren’t heavy because of today’s tasks-they’re weighed down by yesterday’s mistakes and tomorrow’s fears. Real peace comes when we leave the past behind, hand the future to Allah, and focus on what we can do right now-worship, good deeds, and our responsibilities. Live like that, and in sha’ Allah, your heart will find calm. But stay stuck in what was or anxious about what might be, and you’ll just tire yourself out and lose the blessings of today.
