Kosovo and Saudi Arabia: Hoping for a New Era of Tech Cooperation - Assalamu Alaikum
Assalamu Alaikum - Kosovo and Saudi Arabia can strengthen their already warm ties by working together in technology and innovation, President Vjosa Osmani said during her visit to Riyadh for the Future Investment Initiative. She described the meeting as a good chance to open new chapters of cooperation between the two countries.
Osmani noted that Kosovo values its relationship with the Kingdom, calling Saudi Arabia one of the world leaders in tech and AI development. She reminded listeners that Saudi Arabia was among the first countries to recognize Kosovo’s independence in 2008, and that support remains meaningful to Pristina. This history makes Kosovo hopeful that the visit will deepen business links, attract investment, and encourage knowledge exchange.
Kosovo, a young nation with a tech-savvy population, has launched “Digital Agenda Kosovo 2030” to build a gigabit society with 5G, e-governance, and AI. Osmani said that partnering with Saudi Arabia - which is expanding its own digital and AI plans under Vision 2030 - could be transformative for both sides. She believes Kosovo’s strong IT competitiveness and young workforce make it an attractive place for foreign direct investment in tech.
On the topic of faith and people-to-people ties, Osmani thanked Saudi Arabia for its support of Kosovo’s Muslim community. She said about 1,500 Kosovars perform Hajj each year and praised the cooperation between Kosovo’s Islamic leadership and Saudi Hajj authorities. She expressed hope that such support can grow in the future.
Osmani also spoke about the Kingdom’s growing role in mediation and peace efforts around the world, and Kosovo’s appreciation for initiatives that promote stability. She reflected on Kosovo’s painful past and emphasized how precious peace is for future generations.
Beyond politics and investment, she stressed the importance of building stronger connections between the peoples of both countries - through education, cultural exchanges, and youth programs. Osmani encouraged young Kosovars to visit Saudi Arabia and invited Saudi youth to visit Kosovo, saying that direct contact and shared experiences are what truly build lasting relations.
She closed by extending an open invitation to Saudi leadership to visit Kosovo, so Kosovars can personally thank the Kingdom for its support, and by stressing that investing in youth is essential to keep the relationship lively and forward-looking. May these ties grow for the benefit of both peoples and for the sake of peace and prosperity.
