Judge Rejects Former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut's Challenge in Hajj Quota Corruption Case
BANDA ACEH – The Central Jakarta District Court has rejected a challenge from the legal team of former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas in the case of alleged corruption involving additional hajj quotas for 2023-2024. Presiding Judge Ni Kadek Susantiani declared the challenge inadmissible and ordered the case to proceed to the evidentiary stage.
Prosecutors and defense counsel were asked to prepare witnesses. The judge deemed the indictment prepared by prosecutors to be thorough, clear, and complete. Yaqut's grounds for challenge were considered part of the substance of the case, which is a matter of proof.
Yaqut Cholil Qoumas is charged with causing state losses of Rp622,090,207,166.41 related to the policy of filling additional hajj quotas.
