Is it wrong to ask questions like this?
Assalamu alaikum, I'm a Muslim and I have full faith, but sometimes questions pop into my head. I know Isa (Jesus) is a prophet, yet I've heard people say things like “if Allah can do anything then He can do that,” and it made me wonder - could Allah do something like that if He willed it? I'm not asking about Isa specifically here, just curious in general about what Allah's power means. I'm not trying to challenge Islam - I genuinely want to understand. Whatever the answer is, I remain firm in my faith, but having a clear response helps me and would help if Christians ask me. I also get that there are limits to questioning; some matters we may never fully grasp but still accept in Islam. My husband gave me an explanation, and Alhamdulillah it helped. He also advised me not to keep probing too much and mentioned some salaf said excessive questioning can be wrong. So I'm wondering: is it haram to ask questions like this with the sincere intention of understanding? I'm thinking about when my kids ask things - if I just tell them not to ask, they might look elsewhere and get misleading answers. Is it better to study other texts, like the Bible, to be able to explain and respond to Christians' points of view? JazakAllah khair for any guidance.
