Feeling Troubled: A Muslim's Perspective on Compassion and Suicide

Salam, everyone. I recently saw a heartbreaking story online about a Muslim sister who ended her own life after facing immense hardship. Watching her final moments left me utterly devastated. My mother, however, had a very different reaction. She said she feels no sympathy for those who take their own lives, calling it a grave and foolish mistake. It honestly made me feel like she was being so cold-hearted. As Muslims, where do we draw the line between understanding profound pain and holding firm to our deen? My heart is really conflicted about this.
