Alhamdulillah: A Muslim Entrepreneur’s Journey to Owning a Home in Dubai Sports City
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh! I want to share a little story about my new place in Dubai Sports City. I’ve been living here in the UAE for 12 years now, and Alhamdulillah, recently I bought a one-bedroom apartment to live with my mother. It was important for me to have our own home, especially after she moved in with me. The apartment cost Dh750,000, which I believe was a good deal since the value has increased already. I chose this spot because it’s peaceful, not too crowded, and on the 21st floor with beautiful views of the golf course and both sunrise and sunset. The layout is comfortable with a good-sized bedroom and kitchen, and there’s even a small balcony where we can relax. Before buying, I rented the place fully furnished since it was available for short-term rental. I started with a one-year lease but decided within six months to take the step and purchase it. Owning this property is part of my plan to build assets and secure our future, Insha’Allah. Paying a mortgage monthly costs less than renting did, and it feels good knowing this is an investment benefiting us. I also hope to encourage other Muslim and Filipino brothers and sisters here that property ownership is possible and a smart move. You don’t have to start big; small studios begin around Dh600,000 and can be a great start. For now, I’m happy to stay here for at least three years, making some small improvements like repainting and adjusting the kitchen. The building has good facilities like a pool, gym, and playground, and it’s pet-friendly too, which is a blessing since we have a dog. This community has easy access to main roads, making it convenient, and I believe it’s a solid investment with a diverse group of residents. If our family grows, we might look for a bigger home, but for now, Alhamdulillah, this place feels like a peaceful and blessed space to call home.
