After Diplomatic Mission to Iran, PBNU Head Gus Yahya Immediately Visits Tambakberas Jombang
PBNU Chairman KH Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) headed straight to Jombang after returning from Iran on Sunday (7/12). From the airport, he went directly to Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School to visit and attend preparations for the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress.
The visit had actually been scheduled earlier, but was delayed because Gus Yahya received an assignment from the President to join an official government delegation to Iran. The Indonesian delegation offered condolences on the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and voiced Indonesia's commitment to promoting peace in the Middle East.
While in Iran, the delegation met several high-ranking officials, including the Foreign Minister and the Speaker of Iran's Parliament. Gus Yahya said the main message they carried was to encourage peace, and the moral aspirations of NU members who constantly pray for the safety of Muslims and world peace were well-received.
After the diplomatic mission, Gus Yahya chose to go straight to Jombang without going home first. He considered the visit to Tambakberas important because the pesantren holds historical value as one of the birthplaces of NU and will host the 35th Congress. He hopes the Congress runs smoothly and produces the best decisions for NU and the people.
