A Journey of Understanding
I've been someone who didn't believe in God for my entire life until not too long ago. One of the big things that's still making me hesitant about embracing Islam is the topic of evolution. Personally, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to reconcile belief in evolution with what's in the Quran. I've come across some people who accept evolution but don't believe it applies to humans, which seems like a reasonable idea to me, but then I struggle with the overwhelming evidence that points to gradual changes over millions of years leading to humans. Fossils show a slow progression toward upright walking, bigger brains, using tools, changes in teeth, and hands becoming more skilled. DNA tests tell us we share about 98% of our DNA with chimpanzees, suggesting we came from a common ancestor. We know about species like Homo habilis and Homo erectus, and Neanderthals, with whom we share some genetic mutations. I feel like if I could just see this from a different angle, it might completely convince me that Allah is real.
