Fast food advertising banned in Abu Dhabi | The National
Abu Dhabi has banned all fast food advertising across the emirate as part of a major health initiative to combat obesity, diabetes, and other chronic diseases. The ban aims to help people make healthier choices by removing unhealthy food promotions from public view. Additionally, new measures include Nutri-Mark food labels grading products from A (healthiest) to E, stricter supermarket layouts that remove junk food from high-traffic areas, and enhanced nutrition standards in schools and workplaces. According to Dr. Ahmed AlKhazraji, the goal is to make healthy living accessible by proactively shaping environments rather than blaming individuals. The strategy focuses on diet, physical activity, mental well-being, and sleep, representing a shift from reactive healthcare to proactive health prevention.
